...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. * WHERE...A portion of southeast Texas, including the following areas, Bolivar Peninsula, Brazoria Islands, Chambers, Coastal Brazoria, Coastal Galveston, Coastal Harris, Coastal Matagorda, Fort Bend, Galveston Island, Inland Brazoria, Inland Galveston, Inland Matagorda, Matagorda Islands and Wharton. * WHEN...Through this evening. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Bands of heavy rainfall are currently pushing through our coastal counties with the potential for training/backbuilding thunderstorms. Rainfall totals have already reached 3 to 4 inches in parts of Chambers County and 2 to 3 inches over parts of Galveston and Brazoria County. Over the next few hours, heavy rainfall is expected to fall across the coastal counties which could lead to flash flooding in some areas especially where heavy rain falls for an extended period of time. Isolated rainfall totals of 4 to 6+ inches will be possible. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Information: You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop. |
